Historical moment – we finally got the Prize of Europe

28th of September Ivano-Frankivsk was awarded with Prize of Europe-2018. The award is the highest honor of Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), established as far back 1955. It is awarded to European city for its action in the international arena. Prize consists of trophy, medal, diploma and scholarship for educational trips to Europe for youth.

 To achieve such   a prize our city has had a long way. As a result in 2005 we got European Diploma, in 2006 – Honorable Flag of the Council of Europe, in 2012- Honorable Sign of Council of Europe and in 2018 – desirable victory, the highest award!

«For me as a city Mayor it`s a great honor and responsibility to get the highest award of PACE – the Prize of Europe. It means that Ivano-Frankivsk along with Vienna, Turin, Istanbul, Nurenberg for good is admitted among the best and the most comfortable European cities. We won`t get such an award without well-coordinated work of big team, the whole community; without understanding of everybody and each person that Ivano-Frankivsk – is a European city and we are worth big victories and outstanding achievements» – pointed city Mayor Ruslan Martsinkiv.

Representative of PACE Yaak Medison noticed that this award is indeed great recognition for city in European community.  He emphasized that Ivano-Frankivsk is really develops with amazing pace and shows good results at each level of its activity annually.

Opera singers from 10 different European countries congratulated Ivano-Frankivsk with the highest recognition. And in the end of great ceremony all together sang legendary song «Chervona ruta» in Ukrainian.
